i can't talk as if i'm an expert on "what is currently going on," but it seems Jacob v MIB is the pre-eminent conflict

the characters who dominated the first 2 seasons truly are secondary or tertiary

Jacob may not have been around in the first season, but the themes and conflicts he and MIB represent were most certainly present. They were embodied by Jack's and Locke's philosophies. These are the important aspects of this current season. MIB and Jacob are just pure embodiments of Jack and Locke's conversations with the stakes of course being much higher.

Fact: They killed one of their best characters in Michael. So flawed he was perfect. Lostiacs will disagree, they hated him because he was maybe the only consistent character for a long time. He and Jin at least.

I hated Michael so I was glad he got killed off. I really wonder what would have happened with his character had Libby and Anna Lucia chosen to call a Cab instead of getting a death ticket because of their DUIs.

just because jack and locke had certain ideals, or were symbols for ideas, don't mean their characters meant anything

I agree , but their ideals led to my favorite lost episode names ever .... "Man Of Science, Man Of faith"

Not saying this in the main thread...I let my criticism run wild here...

This recap is making the show sound fricking stupid.

What the recap has proved is that BECAUSE the writers tried so hard to avoid what the fans were predicting, that they totally screwed the show over.

This recap is hitting on all the major plot points and it sounds absolutely ridiculous.

The island SHOULD have been purgatory. Jacob and MIB SHOULD have been God and the Devil, etc.

The show could have actually meant something.

i like how as the show progressed, they killed off all the cool/logical explanations

OH YOU THINK IT'S PURGATORY? SUP OTHERS?

OH YOU THINK IT'S FAITH VS SCIENCE? FLASH FORWARD BITCH

OH YOU THINK THIS SHOW IS ABOUT THE ISLAND? IT'S ON THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN

I read this about a video game, but this the show's greatest single flaw:

When presented with an infinite number of possible resolutions, any answer is going to feel arbitrary.

and on top of that, unlike seinfeld or sopranos (the 2 most awaited finales in recent memory), these guys will try to do something profound to attempt to tie "it" all together

the problem, as you noted, is we have no idea what "it" is anymore

They've kinda confirmed the Island is Purgatory in a way with the Whispers. They aren't just going to point blank state it.

And yes I agree, Jacob and MIB should have been the God and the devil.

The fact that LOST can initiate such strong emotions amongst a large number of people is what makes the show so great. Either you hate it or love it, or in between, and no other show has captured people like this.

Okay, I'll stay out of the LOST-haters club now.

naw

the show has made lost-tards get emotional, and i'm just like "what?"

i've only even jumped in, since jumping off, because the finale was coming...i was going to watch it no matter what

you see you're wrong. the show isn't that powerful

and you prove my point...people like you are what is annoying
