Watching a horror movie with people who don't take it seriously

And by seriously, I mean people who talk and laugh to ease their nerves about the movie. Went to see IT tonight and unfortunately was next to a group of 4 or 5 block women who wouldn't shut the frick up. It's almost like they thought they were watching a Tyler Perry movie. It was so annoying and distracting that I almost walked out and tried to get a refund.

eta: yes there was plenty of funny dialogue between the kids. That's not what I'm griping about.

Whoa, I don't think you can say that anymore. "Geometrically three dimensional women" is the preferred nomenclature.

Let me get this straight, it was so annoying and distracting that you almost did something?

I assume you mean "black"? I had a similar instance once, but at least they had good reason to laugh because they were blowing up during Hancock, that shitty movie with Will Smith as a drunk super hero. My friend turned around and yelled at them to "shut up", but I dont remember if it mattered. Terrible movie though.

Whats most annoying is when people bring their whiny little child to clearly adult level content movies and refuse to take the child out of the theater even when its balling its arse off.

I have even heard a child straight up say, "Mommy I don't like this movie!" and then proceeds to cry. Mom does nothing.

Oh I liked Hancock! Only The Avengers cause more collateral damage than his drunk arse.

I totally agree about parents who don't control their children and rude people in general. There's no reasoning with them, so if I can't take it, I'll just leave.

I experienced something similar when i saw IT

These two black women came in late, brought out their loud snacks that they brought from home, got their complimentary water from the movie tavern and whispered and laughed nearly the whole movie...On top of checking their phone just in case La Queshia texted her...

You would think the movie tavern would've priced people like this out, guess not...

Some folks treat horror films like amusement park rides. Laughing and cheering during the scary parts.

I had one guy who would laugh loudly throughout every scary moment in The Conjuring. Seemed like he was trying to impress the rest of us with his mastery of fear.

This is why I don't see horror films in theaters. People are always laughing and screaming and making a scene. Not a great setting in which to watch a film.

How can one take a horror movie seriously?

Kind of like getting pissed if someone doesn't take Superman seriously.

The opposite is just as bad.

Not watching a horror movie with a person because they take it too seriously.

Which is my wife. Can't watch anything remotely suspenseful because she internalizes it and has nightmares. Weirdo.
