On this board? They think the Police Squad movies are gay because the main actor's name is Leslie

Do you mean the Naked Gun movies?

It was like a lifetime movie. Also, such a big deal was made about it being a gay movie. It wasn't even about that..
Finally got around to watching Moonlight on Amazon. Gotta say, I was surprised. I think the right movie won over La La Land (though I would've voted for Hacksaw Ridge). Only watched it because it won, but I was impressed with all the actors (except the crackhead mother- it's just a stereotype now). The adult Chiron impressed me even more than Mahershala Ali, but both were devastating. And I think "the gay thing" was huge, it hung over the whole movie, even though it only came up explicitly a couple times - just like being closeted and confused hung over Chiron's entire life. Well done and uniquely structured movie.

It wasn't terrible. It was actually good.

But it was definitely not Best Picture worthy.

I agree with all of this.

However, it was a down year in terms of Best Picture nominees. Among the others in the field, the only one I thought was better than Moonlight was Hell or High Water.

After all the anti black shite that came out before last year, Madea goes to jail could have come out and it would have been nominated for best picture
