Some will agree. I first watched it when it was playing on BBC America. It's been a long wait for season 2.

Fantastic adaptation of an incredible book series. Can't recommend it or the books highly enough. Yes, better than Vikings. Would've made a fantastic HBO show if they didn't already have GOT.

I'm looking forward to S2. I loved S1 and I'm hoping it'll get a bigger budget since Netflix took it over from BBC.

Any word on the S2 release date?

It's still filming. Sometime in 2017.

Best transaction of visual media from the source material I've ever seen.

Both the books and TV show are superb.

My first impression watching the pilot was it was a low budget Vikings. It was just something about the costumes. But if you like Vikings you'll probably like Last Kingdom, and they really cover different ground so there's no need to put them against each other. Enjoy both.

Very comparable to Vikings. I liked it a little more although early Ragnar is still my favorite character of the 2. Has a good bit of unpredictability, which is right up my alley.

If you read the books, you'll love the character of Uhtred. He's savage and belligerent, proud, cocky, and unsentimental. Total medieval warlord. The show does an ok job with him and I think he'll develop. Looks wise, the actor doesn't fit the bill but that's ok. Attitude wise, it'll be fun to see if the show can properly depict Uhtreds sheer aggression. I like Ragnar too but at times he lacks personality and actually could use some more dialogue.

How long are the books? Are they ASOIAF long or are they relatively short in comparison?

They're each around 300 pages, and a new one comes out just about every year. I think this newest one is the ninth. Pretty quick easy reads. Not laborious at all. They are written from Uhtred's first person point of view, and as I wrote earlier I think he's a fascinating character.
