Was magnificent 7 considered a flop?

Just saw the dvd has been released. I don't remember it being in theatres long and don't remember hearing much buzz once released.

Eh, I watched this yesterday and Gods of Egypt today and I have to say, I liked gods of Egypt better. Not sure that says much about magnificent 7.

Jesus Christ. That's a rough review. I'll still watch it eventually on FX but expectations have plummeted.

I just saw it. It was a decent action flick. Just a bunch of shooting, shite blowing up and people dying. Nothing new, but entertaining.

90 mil budget, made 93 mil domestically, another 70 in foreign markets.
Not really a flop, but not that successful either. It will probably end up breaking even once its rights are sold to the movie channels, and you add up sales and rentals.

People hate on Gods of Egypt but I didn't think it was bad at all. Decent and enjoyable.

This movie is chock full of cliches and clunky dialogue that sounds like it was written by your average moviegoer. Got bored of shooting about an hour in but managed to power thru just to say I finished. Will not watch again

I've been rigorously downvoted for defending this movie. Mostly by people who declared it horrible based only on trailers. I recall a three page thread at the time where almost everyone said it sucked but only three posters including myself had even seen it.
It is a fun movie. Way more entertaining and creative than Magnificent 7.

If you're in for mindless action, which is my favorite, then it's worthwhile. If not, watch the original and even the sequels
