Someone needs to start Video Jukebox back up so whenever we want, we can pay to see Sir Mix ALot and Metallica!

Can I get some straight re-runs with commercials of Headbanger's Ball and 120 Minutes?

That would be nice but they probably don't have many scoped airchecks if any.

MTV did apparently have a full air check of their first day on the air.

They played it during their 30th anniversary celebration.

It had spots, promos, music videos, dead air and all.
It was incredibly cool.

MTV didn't exist in my market back in '81.

MTV was great when they only played music videos in the 80's

Remember when it first came on. I had no idea, just flipping the channels and came across it. I don't think I changed the channel for weeks.

Hopefully they play classic Real World seasons, San Diego, Philadelphia, Paris, Austin, Sydeny, Vegas 1, etc....and the old RW/RR Challenges. MTV Summer was great but I was always more partial to MTV Spring Break.

Already taped about 3 shows on this channel including the famous Nirvana Unplugged and Foo Fighters Storytellers. They're showing the entire first season of The Real World tomorrow and the first 2 season of Laguna Beach next Saturday.

Looks like every Saturday will be some marathon of a past hit series or season from their glory years. The guide also shows lots and lots of music video blocks.

I like how one of the first shows they played was the weird all behind the music. The music blocks are legit, I just hope they start playing TRL every weekday at 4... in order.

Theyve said their focus is going to be 90's MTV, but the problem with that is 90's MTV is not CLASSIC MTV. Dan Cortese, Kennedy and Daisy Fuentes are not CLASSIC MTV. MTV's decline began when they introduced non-music programming. You could argue that it's Remote Control's fault, but I blame The Real World.

Martha Quinn, Alan Hunter, Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman and JJ Jackson are Classic MTV. Wall-to-wall music videos with soda and potato chip commercials is Classic MTV. Anything other than those things are just "MTV Once It Got Shitty." But who would watch a channel called that?

They used to have a "MTVs Grind Party" at a water park here. Friday nights from 8:00-11:00. Now that was a good time.

MTV was once a trend setter. Sometime around 93-94 they started to turn.

The 80's didn't stop being the 80's until music fractured into the Grunge vs East Coast-West Coast Gangsta Rap divide. Until that point, it was all Michael Jackson & Madonna business as usual, with pop fluff like Paula Abdul and C+C Music Factory thrown in for garnish. There were still undercurrents of Hair Bands, Bubblegum Pop, et al., but that's what I see as the major dividing line.

original MTV had controversy because they didn't want to play music by black artists.

Said it was a rock station.

They weren't perfect, to be sure. Once Thriller came out, they got over any undertones uber quick.

Actually the 90s and very early 2000s was the best when they had a perfect balance of music videos, mtv produced shows, reality tv and documentaries.

The current format with no music and almost 100% reality tv sucks
