Surprised at some of the omissions so far. My list will definitely include Coming to America (probable #1), The Last Emperor, and Planes Trains and Automobiles.

Oh and as for Field of Dreams, I don't know if this help with your problems or not but it is based on a book (Shoeless Joe). But it is a book I haven't read so I can't use those points to help you out.

I start an Unoffical Top 25 All Nostalgia list thread this morning. But it flopped cause people couldn't read. Probably on the 3rd page by now.

This is a fantastic thread! I was born in 1979 so my childhood consisted of 80s movies....how I loved the 80s.

I had about 40 of them typed out, started deleting them, accidentally cut out four too many, added a couple back in, thought of one of my favorite actors that wasn't included, did an IMDb on him to see when the movie I liked released, remembered a similar movie and added those two that weren't in the original forty.

I started out with more action movies and ended up changing to more dramatic ones. I kept coming up with movies that I would rather watch if they were available to me right now.

I thought about doing a second list of the movies that were my favorites during the 80's since that's how my list started. Damn, I didn't save my original 40.
