Pretty surprising, thought this movie was going to suck. I know it's early but might have to check it out. Although it still seems like the older generations won't like it that much

Honestly, from a structural standpoint, the movie looks incredible. Or at least inventive and brave. If, in fact, the whole movie is shot using webcams, it could suck completely, but at the end of the day it is quite unique idea.
That said, as a premise, I think it looks pretty terrible.

This looks dumber than the movie about the cell phone that would kill you. The number called your phone, you answered, and then you died horrifically. This just looks so bad that even the parody of it will suck worse than "Meet the Spartans".

this makes me feel old. just not that long ago the movies were about your cell phone trying to kill you, now it is social media.

I thought the same thing about the V/H/S series, and those have gotten progressively worse to the point of being laughably bad (not even enjoyably bad).

This looks like the worst horror movie since Paranormal Activity 4, so I'm surprised it's getting this high of reviews. Wasn't expecting anything above the low teens.

Some of the reviewers are saying that this film is original or a new type of horror film. Basically the same idea was done last year in a movie called The Den.
Essentially the entire movie is shown as if you are watching skype calls. I don't know if these reviewers have seen The Den, but calling the idea used in Unfriended original is flat out untrue.
ETA: Also a similar short was shown in one of the VHS movies.
