you know they are making a 3rd season this coming year. Mclaughlin is already signed on and Lynch is directing

The cheesiness is on purpose.

Is the show intentionally cheesy or is that just the early 90s aspect of it?

i tried watching this but the cheesiness (which was on purpose it seems) really turned me off. I like some of Lynch's stuff, but this was just too much.

That being said, I will check out the new season out of pure curiosity.

The characters are oddball because Lynch is.

There is some very very very bad acting and directing from time to time. I wouldn't call it just a 90s thing. There really is some horrible acting.

I just watched the show for the first time and I wasn't overly impressed. Not sure I finished up the final season but I'll probably do that.

Nothing about Twin Peaks is cheesy.

The acting is top quality.

And the story is quite original.

Twin Peaks is one of David Lynch's masterpieces.

Sorry man but I don't think you "get" it.

Everything in Twin Peaks is intentional, literally everything.

The acting is some of the best ever on television. It is much harder for real actors to portray the nuances and cliches in a Lynch story than you could even imagine

Second season is worth watching just for the fantastic final shot.

The movie is a prequel to the show. I saw that first so it kind of ruins some of the mystery of the show for me.

I'm about to start the series and I was actually considering watching the movie prequel first but your post made me change my mind. I'll just watch it in the order of release.

Again, I'm not too familiar with the show but I notice there's a big drop in ratings during the second half of S2. Oh well, still excited to watch it. I like David Lynch and that weird arse tone he sets during this films.

the show was meant to over the top melodramatic, and the cheesiness was quite noticeable when I watched it the firs ttime around.

I did think that david lynch had a plan with what he wanted to do, but he never got to execute on it. I do think he wasted far too much time in season 2 on teenager crap, when he could have puhsed the story further.

Twin Peaks was the first series that I watched live each week and never missed a single episode. There was one episode that was delayed due to other programming, and I think I had to VHS that one. The good thing about that one delayed episode was that ABC didn't talk over the credits promoting their shows, so we got Lynch's extended footage of a kid playing the piano over the credits. Very odd.

There was no cheese when it first aired. It was all extremely stylish and weird and awesome. No other series came close to having that subdued, strange mood. Now we're used to it, since Twin Peaks was so heavily sampled by Northern Exposure, X-Files, and other intentionally odd series.

The weirdness wore a little thin towards the end, but we stayed through the whole series.

I was able to get Season 1 and Season 2, plus the movie real cheap.....and then I realize once it's delivered that the pilot episode isn't included in the set.

i am right there with you. It happens with Mulholland Drive. Some of it is fine but it was way over down for me.

The heavy synth use just bothers me so fricking much. It sucks but for whatever reason I cannot get past it.
