Just finished watching.

The characters and mood of this show are amazing. I am hooked already.

Did anyone mention that the young lady had a magnificent set of tits?

God this show is amazing. Rich dialogue, rich characters, rich scenery, rich mystery. It captures the beauty and despair of rural louisiana perfectly. To the guy who says its too slow, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. But you sound like the same sort of person who would watch the first ten minutes of a movie like Almost Famous and say "This sucks nothing's happened yet." Not all shows have to be breaking bad in terms of action to be great shows. Someone mentioned Mad Men. Or even the Wire. The Wire was pretty slow developing in some of its seasons.

Good show so far, one of the best TV shows I've maybe ever seen

But I'll be god damned if it isn't a slow fricking show

I'm all for deliberate pacing of things that I watch, but man, basically nothing has happened in two hours

That said, it is a fricking great show

Yep. I think they'll introduce the green-eared spaghetti monster in his not so tidy whities soon. Walter White would be proud.

Anyone notice they closed the episode with a 13th Floor Elevators tune? A little bit of late 60's psychedelia.

Well we did find out most of MM's backstory. We know most of Harrelson's marital woes now. We know the dead girl they found belonged to this crazy church that got burned down and that the church is clearly connected to this murder and probably others. We know something big happened in 1995 involving them rescuing some kids from the woods. And it seems very much like the two 2012 detectives doing the interviewing, suspect MM is the actual killer and that he purposefully steered the investigation wrong in 95'. I suspect what actually ended is this anti-occult government task force makes an early arrest bc of political pressure that ends up being the wrong guy

Interesting, but don't we know that MM did something particularly heroic in the woods? That doesn't square with the political arrest.

This show is amazing. Funny how themes in Hannibal are recurring here.

Notice MM is drinking out of a flask and has empty beer cans on the table. If he was a suspect, they wouldn't be letting him drink.

Anybody else notice the chief is the coke-sniffing accountant from Seinfeld?

We'll I don't think they brought him in as a suspect. Think they're trying to do what the French police tried to do to Robert Langdon in the Da Vinci Code, i.e. bring him in and act like he's assisting you in your investigation when you're actually trying to get him to slip up and incriminate himself

I read a great review earlier today in a magazine. The reviewer had watched the entire season and called True Detective the TV version of Apocalypse Now. I generally hate comparisons to other works, but two episodes in and it has an eerily similar tone to Apocalypse. The case is to True Detective as the jungle is in Apocalypse.

That is some serious praise and I hope it lives up to it. A lot of people complain that Apocalypse is slow, so if you think that this show may not be for you. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

So SFP and company can you agree that I was right and you were wrong about Rust being an avid user of drugs and that his employment with the LSP makes total sense?

Stop saying the show is slow. That doesn't make sense. The show isn't slow. Point out what is wrong with the pacing if you can. You can't.... But feel free to try.
