Beautiful, I know Simon will do this right.

"What it's not going to be is a happy stroll through David Simon's record collection. It should not be a tourism slide show. If we do it right, it (will be) about why New Orleans matters."

Frickin A!!

"Treme" would reach beyond the music scene to explore political corruption, the public housing controversy, the crippled criminal-justice system, clashes between police and Mardi Gras Indians, and the struggle to regain the tourism industry after the storm.

This looks like The Wire set in New Orleans. I'm so pumped for this ..Simon never dissapoints.

I wonder how he'll be able to do in a city he knows a lot less well. I think being from Baltimore probably really helped in subtle ways on the Wire.

Wow that's awesome. I'm sure the show will be great, but I don't think it will live up to the Wire. And I'm not trying to be negative, you just can't improve upon perfection.

I can't wait to see how it turns out. I hope he has been thorough in his research, you have to get deep before you can begin to understand NO much less explian it to an audience.

I'm sure he'll have more than a couple local folks advising him. Maybe he'll cast the Bunk to get some NO blood on the show.

lets see how he does with that iraq miniseries
he adapted that from a magazine piece. if he can pull that off, i think he can pull off n.o.
btw n.o. and baltimore have alot in common(crime, city corruption, both chocolate cities)

i dont think anybody could pull off that acting job. but really you dont even need to cast anyone. he isnt ever in NOLA so he could just be a shadow character. and having Bunk in the show is almost a must.

reading about it this AM in the times pic made me very happy

he has been researching this idea for several years .... and has spent a lot of time in the city talking to people and absorbing the real culture of the city, which means he missed a gumbo party or three
