I'll take this a little more seriously than some here. My nomination is the 1947 film "Lady in the Lake," based on the Phillip Marlowe novel by Raymond Chandler.

Great source material, so what could go wrong. Robert Montgomery was a horrible choice for Phillip Marlowe, but that's not really the problem.

It was also Montgomery's directorial debut and he wanted to make a splash. He wanted to create a cinematic version of the first person narrative style of the book. So the entire film is shot from the viewpoint of Marlowe.

What this means is that the camera view is from his eyes. You can only see what he would see. Only see what he does like reaching for a doorknob, bringing a cigarette up to take a puff, throwing a punch etc. During the story the only time you see his face is when he walks in front of a mirror.

Give him an A for being experimental, but it makes a horrible movie experience.

People with different belief systems will come to wildly different conclusions about that movie. Not being cognizant of that is the purest definition of ignorance.

Agreed. The Room and Troll 2 are both wonderful cinematic experiences. A truly horrible film should put you in absolute rage mode and piss you off, not make you die laughing like Batman and Robin does.

He is right in that the film is entirely pointless, because the plot resolves itself before the Dude catches onto it, but it's pointlessness is the point, and most people miss this on the first viewing.

The Happening and The Scorpion King are up there along with Max Payne.

The worst has to be The Last Airbender though. Geez that was so so so so bad.

Well on 2nd thought, I agree it wasn't ignorance. To categorical lump The Passion of Christ with previosly referenced snuff films is just plain stupid.
