Top Gun question.

Why did Iceman not catch any shite for basically causing Goose's death?
Is it because you could argue that maybe Maverick was flying too close and put his plane in a danger(ous) zone? I feel like since it was never brought up, that Mav didn't do anything wrong. Not to mention that Goose kept telling him "Get in there, Mav.." So clearly he was in a waiting pattern waiting to get into attack position when Ice moved the frick out of the way.
But basically, Ice's greed and unwillingness to move is what ultimately led to him pulling off late. And moreover, Mav tells him specifically, and multiple times to "Come off my right," but when Ice pulls out, he pulls up and to the left, causing them to trail into his jet wash.
Yet there is never a single thing said about Ice (either directly or indirectly) causing the crash. How the frick is that possible?
And all he does is offer some half assed apology saying "I'm sorry about Goose. Everybody liked him." Oh, really, a-hole? Then maybe you shouldn't have fricking killed him. Dick.
And on a separate note, frick Sundown for being all up Maverick's arse once he gets back in air. Hey, a-hole, Mav will fire when he's goddamned good and ready, you got that?

I think it was just more of a freak accident than any one thing in particular. though i do agree with your assessment of how Iceman was reluctant to give up his position.
Another thought, why did the black guy have to be "Sundown"?

Ice was rewarded for doing basically everything the NFWS tries to teach wrong. He was taking way too long to gain position, and Mav had the better angle. I mean, while he was dicking around, Viper was probably working on getting position on Ice and Mav. At least Maverick was only a danger to himself.
IRL, Tim Robbins was the only actor that didn't puke in the flights.

He should have. He did a fee things wrong and Maverick WA telling him to get out the way for a while.

That's a solid scene man. Maverick is obviously quitting, Ice was there, he knows what happened. What could he say? He swallowed his pride and apologized. And Maverick quit. Goose dying would've shaken up everyone in the school. Nothing you can say at that point.
But I agree that Ice's greed led the the inevitable fly through jet wash and crash.
This movie is and always will be in my top 10 all time favorite movies.
What I'm about to tell you is classified... Could end my career.

This is one of the most overrated movies ever.

There's a short scene where Maverick is standing in front of a Board of Inquiry and they tell him he wasn't found responsible for Goose's death.
Mav flew through Ice's jet wash. How is that Ice's fault?

Nor should he be charged for any wrongdoing, because he wasn't in the wrong. At all.
And Maverick flew through his jet wash because Ice flew up and to the left instead of peeling off Mav's right side (which he told him to do twice). Had Ice come off Mav's right as instructed, Mav would've likely not flown through the wash.
I will fight you right now.

What baffles me about this movie is WTF was an aircraft carrier doing cruising around without their own fighter squadron?
Posted on 11/14/15 at 7:14 am to CocomoLSU
It all worked out in the end. Mav is a multi millionaire and owns his own fighter jet now.
Iceman is unemployed and overweight.

The whole squadron didn't leave. One pilot and his RIO left. They happen to send the TopGun graduates back to Mavericks ship at the end. Why? Because James Tolkan thinks you're a slacker and will have you flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shite out of Hong Kong.

So randomly, I was searching for something completely unrelated, but found a thread, in which I am nitpicking Top Gun, from a few years ago where I bitched about Iceman killing Goose already.
Top Gun nitpick.
