I just saw the interview he did today in London and didn't see it posted on here. Not something I thought I would hear today... or ever lol

What do y'all think about this?
*Edit to say I'm all for this

quote:

Tom Cruise told the a morning talk show in London today that the long-rumored Top Gun 2 will be heading to the cameras sometime “in the next year.” That admission comes a little over a year after Jerry Bruckheimer and the actor met on the Louisiana set of his JackReacher: Never Go Back to discuss plotline and fitting it into his schedule. In fact, Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted about it in January 2016 saying they were together to “discuss a little Top Gun.” They were, in fact, going over possible plot lines for the sequel.

I have no idea. I mean he said "I'm going to start filming it" but that's all the info. This is the first he's told anybody about it.

He's going to be the cocky Admiral that still flies jets and plays by his own rules.

Goose returns as an out of control cyborg created by a shady government spy outfit run by white conservatives with a racist, anti-muslim agenda.

Maverick is now a Top Gun instructor, and only he and his students - a black woman, a gay Asian man, an autistic eskimo, and a white guy (who turns out to be a bad guy) can save the day.

If it's well done quality remake/reboot with basically Maverick/ Cruise in a smaller Viper type roll id maybe be interested.

But Hollywood seems to have lost its magic with movies like this. I don't know of its lazy writing or acting or what but they just don't make movies like they used to.

Why can't they just make an original Fighter Pilot movie. Why does everything have to be tied to an old franchise via remake or sequel or whatever

Subconscious brand recognition. You aren't starting from square one in marketing the movie to the masses. It basically sells itself. It's all about the money in the entertainment business now and less about the quality or originality of the entertainment.

Yea I'd have to agree with gen. The last movie I can think of focused around jet fighters and pilots was Stealth.. and that movie wasn't too good at all. I love any kind of war or history movie. Always had a lot of interest in jet fighters since this movie.

Technically they were not fighting the Russians . The Navy made them use "generic" bad guys.
