This season has been fantastic so far. Two more episodes to go!

They finally caught up to the opening scene of the series! Have to agree that season 2 has not been a letdown at all. Can’t recommend this show enough.

Really hope this gets renewed for a 3rd season and beyond.

Maybe, but this based on Jake’s book and real life experiences. I haven’t read the book yet so I don’t know where the show is in relation to it, but I don’t want them to finish the book in season 2 and then just make up stories for a season 3. For some reason, Hollywood is never as good when it deviates from the original source material that a show or movie is based on.

I'm pretty sure 95% of the events on this show never actually occurred.

There was a white reporter in Japan that covered vice, and a Yakuza that got a transplant. Everything else is make believe.

They've set up episodes 9 and 10 really well

And I would definitely watch a spinoff or an entire season of Tozawa doing nefarious shite

Part of me wants them to wrap up this Tozawa storyline in the next 2 episodes but then again I would love more of it. The Yakuza underworld is such a rich storyline ripe with so many villains and characters that you can go with, Tozawa is one of the best that's been portrayed, imo.

It is really only inspired by his life/book. Adelstein is an executive producer and signs off on the depiction he really is the only "real" character that transfers from the page to screen. I read both his books maybe 10 years ago and the series is quite different which is a good thing because they don't have the possibility to drop off when they run out of source material.

I keep recommending this to friends but nobody seems to bite. I guess I am doing a poor job of selling it because it really is a fantastic series.

In episode 8 of this season when Jake is in the hotel negotiating with the yakuza, was that the same scene the show teased in the very beginning of the series?

Outstanding season. Not sure there’s going to be a season 3, though.

I lived in Japan in the 90’s and even randomly knew a Yakuza guy and some Bosozuku , although they don’t show them in the show in the first season. So I like this a lot for all the little details. I never came across any dark themes while there, it was more like a wholesomeness experience.

Yep, episode 9 was great. Curious to see how they finish the season next Thursday. Hoping we get a season 3.

I'm definitely hoping for a s3, but they've gotta wrap up the Tozawa storyline next episode so the show would go a totally different direction.

Kazuko just dropped her big fricking balls on her husband's head. The Kansai street thug should have taken a beat before he took his victory lap.

This is absolutely my favorite series in current production and I am hoping for a 3rd and many more seasons.

The chess match between Tozawa and his wife has been one of the best sub plots.
