Thoughts on Frontier?

I've watched the first couple episodes and it seems really good.
Anyone else seen it?

It's solid. Seems kind of cheap in some respects. Story seems kind of predictable and without nuance or depth. Travel times seem kind of screwy. Like they set out to search for Declan out in the Frontier of wilderness and then after not even a day of travel they just run into him. Pretty contrived and doesn't make much sense. There's lots of things like this how they are out in the wilderness one moment then popping into town the next.
Don't want to see like I'm giving it too much shite. It is an OK show, but it is one of the lesser quality Netflix shows.

I wasn't expecting much going in especially with only 6 episodes but I agree, they are all over the map. When Lord Benton gave him a guide to go find him he just woke up from a bad hangover and found him without a guide with not much effort it makes you wonder how incompetent Lord Benton is.

The story line is right in my wheelhouse, so I really enjoyed it, but this is all true.
If you like it so far, you'll enjoy the rest.

Does Michael Smith ever stop using his full name?

Very few people go by just 1 name in the show. I agree with what others have said but I really enjoyed it. I think part of the problem is they had to pack alot in 6 episodes. it felt like they needed to get to the point in the story that they're at now and were willing to do silly things like have Michael wonder up on Declan, and have them borrow little fingers teleporter. But overall it has the pieces to be a really good show

Feels line they said "People loved the Revenant! Let's make a series like it"
Except it comes off more like a Cinemax version of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman.
Not saying I hate it, but the plot mechanics are pretty crappy.

I watched all 6 episodes this past weekend.
I liked it but it could be a lot better with a bigger budget of course. And I'm not sure how next season is going to be but I'll watch it when it comes on.
ETA: I loled at the Littlefinger teleportation reference. It got annoying after a while how one second they were in the woods and the next minute they were at the ale house. Same with that American fur trader guy teleporting everywhere.

I just finished it and enjoyed the show. Wish it was more than 6 episodes

Watched the first few episodes and didnt get hooked. Will eventually finish it as it was interesting but seemed like a cheesier version of other shows I'm liking right now.

I thought the last 2 episodes showed some promise and look forward to season 2.

I liked it. Good points made in this thread, but will be watching season 2 for sure.

Did anybody else think that the American fur traders "muscle" looked exactly like Will Forte? I couldn't tell if he was a badass frontiersman or MacGruber.

You better check yourself before you wreck yourself. Are you implying macgruber couldn't pull off being a badass frontiersman?
