Probably Sandler's best movie overall. I loved Billy and Happy an Waterboy, but they were cartoon characters.

Wedding Singer was actually an adult movie that retained Sandler's charm and jokes. Plus the 80s nostalgia actually gets better with time.

Definitely a great movie.

Fun fact: that movie was made in 1998 and set in 1984. It would be like if someone made a movie about 2002 today.

I was actually thinking about that. Even in 98' when it came out, the mid 80s was such a different world from fashion, music, cars, everything. Each decade of the late 20th century was so distinctly different...now, not so much.

That was not a fun fact.

I have to agree. I'm a huge Sandler fan and it's probably his most complete comedy.

Wut?

People aren't running around with cargo pants, laced up jeans, bedazzled jeans, chokers, gaucho pants, micro mini skirts, studded belts, wallet chains, slip bottom tops, trucker hats, frosted tips in their hair, frosted lip balm, FUBU, rapper labeled clothes, Timberlands, those longs arse t-shirts, jeans with no pockets, Juicy Couture jogging suits, or do-rags w/flat brimmed hats anymore.

The music is way different too. Boy bands, nu metal, pop punk, and whatever the frick you want to call Creed and Nicklback were all huge.

It is one of my favorite comedies overall in general too and a good bit ahead of all the other Sandler movies. There are so many little things and every time I see it, I still find something else.

Nah. You're just losing perspective as you get older, and it is harder to differentiate because you have been too old to participate in the last several pop culture shifts. It's cool. Me too, especially considering that I was always resistant to that stuff even when I was of the age to be right in the middle of it.

Awesome movie, and it was made before the 80's were cool again. Now everyone wants to cash in on 80's pop culture nostalgia. I wonder if we'll see a surge in 90's nostalgia.

it still holds up and i still play the soundtrack. So many good quotes as well.

I was at a thankgiving party literally last week and someone asked me to try a meatball. I did the Sandler voice and said, " thats a good meatball." it got blank stares. lol

That scene and him singing his song that was inspired by The Cure will never be any less funny to me

Lovitz is criminally under-appreciated in this movie.

Oh man.

The 00's really were devoid of culture. Maybe it's just me getting older, but you can see old pictures from the 50's thru 90's and pretty well identify the decade from the photo.

Then you hit 00's and the only thing that's changed in the last 16 years is cell phone size.
