Amazing how ahead of its time it was with Farmer Fran being Coach O.

God knows what the team is doing with just Farmer Fran watching them. (Cuts to Coach O running practice)

The Waterboy was my only frame of reference for Louisiana before here from the midwest.

It's the most absurdly stupid piece of cinematography ever committed to celluloid....

Even ULL isn't that bad...

I was more surprised (disappointed?) we don't use small boats as standard forms of transportation. Or see alligators on the regular.

I remember seeing it with friends when it comes out. I was at LSU, my buddy Francois at Southern. Some other friends.
They show UL and Francois makes a lsu football joke. (They weren't great in 99).
Next scene they show SCLSU I say "look it's Southern". & got a good many people laughing.
One of those dumb inside jokes I guess.
Like how we think the cockroach guy from MiB is one of the funniest things in film as far as reciting lines.

i was at Nicholls when it came out. We were all pretty certain that SCLSU was based on Nicholls.

I must say, traveling out of state before al the reality shows popped up, literally the only things people thought about Louisiana came from "The Waterboy" and news footage from Katrina. Most treat "The Waterboy" as a documentary.
