Oh hell yeah...
You would think it would need to be on HBO or something since it's zombies but this will make them work harder on adapting it better.

AMC series (Mad Men, Breaking Bad) are better than anything HBO has going right now, including Entourage and True Blood.

There is a LOT of gore in the Comic, but I'm sure they'll be able to make it work. I wonder if there will be any stylization. Part of the comic's charm is it's black and white inking. Still, I'm sure however they do it, it will look great.
