This is really disappointing. They really promoted this show well with the creepy trailers with rats. Just little 10 second snippets without any explanation during big time programs like the Super Bowl.

I recorded it last night, but I'm reading nothing but horrible reviews.

Monster man little cheesy.

Watched it last night... Didn't think it was horrible, but didn't think it was great. Just meh. The monster angle was def different than I thought it was going to be. I thought it would be more like Outbreak, but I guess you can only make that intriguing for so long.

There were some great visuals... I liked the Sweet Caroline scene a lot...

Other than that, very disappointing. I'll give it another episode, but that was largely incoherent. It felt like they threw a bunch of stuff on the wall just to see what would stick.

It was watchable and agree with Fox it was more enjoyable then the 3 episodes of The Leftovers. Not sure why so many hate the monster angle or even the "walking dead" which by the way seem more like vampire spawn then zombies.

I watched. I thought it was good. However, i'm desperate for a new show, and found leftovers to be boring, and have avoided tyrant and halt and catch fire because i haven't really heard anything good.

Did not like. Cheesy and Corny like a Friday night series in 1984

I wasn't wowed either, but it harkens back to some of the crappy horror movies I'd love killing time with on USA...UP! all night

if it can pick up in the next two episodes, I'll stick for the season...otherwise I'll quickly jettison it from my DVR.

I was hoping this would be a Robin Cook type medical mystery but why go smart when you can go zombie. Disappointed to say the least.

Just finished watching and I enjoyed it.

The Sweet Caroline scene was great as was the scene when Eph and his partner checked out the plane

I thought the monster looked like The Grim Reaper in The Frighteners

From the previews it looks like the Master will look like he is described in the books. Now that my initial disappointment has subsided I feel like those two scenes were actually pretty good. This chick playing Nora still bothers me.

I admit I started dozing in the last third, which scene was that. Apparently it was "the one."

I agree, those were 2 good scenes.

My concern as a book reader, I had very high expectations for this first episode. IIRC, it's the only one GDT is directing. Also, this portion of the book is one of the more captivating openings I can remember from any book.

If this is the product GDT came up with, I am disappoint. As other book readers have mentioned, the trilogy losses steam from book 1-3. The 3rd book was actually not enjoyable. IMO

I think the tv series can be salvage, I'm sure FX paid enough to be patient. I only pray the acting gets better. It's atrocious.

That scene looks great, but whenever a person goes silent in a movie, it infuriates me...a la the chick when she goes into the cockpit against good reason. Who in their right mind doesn't talk to their team in that situation? Who IRL ignores everyone like that?

Book reader here. I enjoyed it. I didn't mind the acting from Nora, Eph, or Setrakian. I thought Peter Russo did a really good job. Rudy sucks, but, we knew Rudy sucked coming into it. Gus was perfect. Bolivar wasn't exactly what id pictured, but he'll do. I'm excited to see where it is going to go.

Got to the point where the main vampire thing smashes the guys head to pulp. Acting is very suspect and the dialogue doesn't help. Story seems pretty decent but don't know if I can make it past the acting/terrible script.

It's sad, I was excited for this one too.

Nonreader for this one.

Positives:

- The vampires didn't sparkle.

- looks like New York is about to get fricked.
