Thoughts?
Worth watching?
Any seasons better than others?

Definitely worth the watch. The first episode is fantastic with the BP Oil Spill...first season is the best. Season 3 is pretty good too.

I wouldn't bother with season 3.

Definitely worth it. I still think season 1 is the best.

I really like it
Season 1 is great
Season 2 is ok
Season 3 is good
but watch The West Wing first, its infinitely better

I gave up somewhere in the back half of season one. I liked the behind the scenes vibe of what goes into a newscast, but got a little tired of how preachy and naively idealistic all of the characters were. It's easy to say how something should be, especially after looking at it thru the prism of history.

I enjoyed the hell out of it. A large percentage of this board dumped on it viciously during its run because they couldn't turn off their butt hurt political meters. It's got a pretty good leftist tilt, but if you don't mind that, it's worth the watch.

Definitely more than a tilt, but the biggest issue was their inability to actually grasp the ideology of the concepts they were trying to portray, and they didn't even try. The pace and idea of the show were very good, the writing just left a lot to be desired. Definitely worth a watch, but the writing left so much to be desired on what the show could have been. I just had way too many moments watching where it was painfully clear they had absolutely no understanding of the positions they were trying to criticize.

SPOILERS
While I am a big fan of the cooked Genoa interview story running throughout the second season. It was horribly eye rolling that the show has this award winning dialogue that can only be written by a guy like Sorkin, but any middle school drop out could see the smoking gun shot clock coming the second it was mentioned while setting up the interview with General Stomtonovich. They could not have possibly drawn any more attention to it.

It was more annoying that everyone was a genius but completely retarded in their personal life except Don Keefer.
They also treated doing the news like they were curing cancer.

Loved it. One of my favorite shows.

Also operated in total hindsight and the dialogue seemed more like a caricature of Sorkin.

It's pretentious as hell. I can deal with political bias like the West Wing but honest to god it got out of hand on this show. The reporters on it literally believe they are saving the world every episode.
The show had the golden opportunity to tell a story of what journalism SHOULD BE with the incredible soapbox that HBO is and being fair to political animals of all stripes but instead it ends up being episode after episode of characters surrounded by a plot which exists almost solely to support the progressive political and cultural points Sorkin wants to make, often in non sequitur monologues.
Also, this show sure as shite didn't help us out seperating the politics from entertainment when it constantly disparaged republicans and libertarians while giving democrats and left leaning independents a free pass. It's slanted one sided garage with an obvious agenda that doesn't care one iota about entertainment.
Imo, this show is a good watch for liberals and independents who lean left. This show would've been much more popular and successful if it trashed the shite out of everybody and that includes, libertarians, democrats and republicans and practiced real journalism. That's what would qualify as separating the politics from entertainment and helping its viewers out in that regard.

If enough people tell Aaron Sorkin that he's smarter than us, will he stop making TV shows?
