very first trailer that the people behind this film were absolutely perfect.

Its funny the instant I found out that Jason Segal was in it it reminded me of this scene in forgetting sarah marshall

Considering he was the writer of that movie shows that he has some sort of soft spot for the muppets

The guy is a huge Muppet fanboy and this was his dream project. Jason Siegel is almost solely responsible for the film being made and being this good.

Were you not hugged enough as a child?

And if you don't think the scene of Kermit and Piggy's date with Steve Martin as the waiter isn't funny as hell, then I don't know what to tell you. I do think a lot of the Muppets are a throwback to the days of vaudeville. Their complete lack of cynicism is actually a refreshing change from today's snark-based economy.

you guys are crazy, obviously Beaker has the best lines in the entire Muppets franchise. I mean "meep meep meep" is a timeless classic of a line and who could forget the gutbuster when he yelled out "MEEEEP!"

I think this movie is overrated beyond overrated, do the people on Rotten Tomatoes really do this?

Thank You Jason Siegel! I can't wait for this. Side note anyone else crack up every time Kermit would introduce a musical guest on the show and exit the stage with his arms waving. I'm not sure why but that made me laugh everytime he did....

"And now introducing Bette Midler! YAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!" (Arms waving wildly)

A new Toy Story short is in front of the Muppets as well, called "Small Fry".

Pic (big, so I'll just link it):
LINK
In the new Toy Story short Small Fry, playing in theaters with The Muppets, Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) is left behind at a fast food restaurant when a kids’ meal toy version takes his place. While the three-inch-tall Buzz impersonator incessantly annoys Woody (Tom Hanks) and all of the other toys, the real Buzz is trapped at a support group for discarded toys, run by narcissistic group leader, Neptuna (Jane Lynch). As Woody and the gang plan to rescue their friend, Buzz attempts his own escape.
Sweet. I can never get enough Toy Story.

I'm visiting the family in OKC and it turns out my niece and nephew have my old VHS of The Muppet Movie. So I'm bout to hook up their DVD/VHS player and, yeah, make that happen.

Here's a good Jason Segal interview, definitely a labor of love movie so it should be better than most trot out the franchise cash grab sequels.

That's pretty dangerous building a road in the middle of the street. I mean, if frogs couldn't hop, I'd be gone with the Schwinn.

I was hugged a lot as a child and I loved the Muppets. But as I have grown older I do not find the same things funny as I did then. The same way my taste in food, clothing women, etc has all changed.

It's definitely nostalgic and the prouction itself should be respected. I just don't see how adults can sit there and laugh out loud. I liked He-Man as a kid but I'm not going to sit here and pretend Skeletor still scares me because he doesnt.
