1.) what a weird movie to reboot

2.) I think a huge reason the original franchise was as popular as it was, was because it was an action adventure that had a lot of lightheartedness to it. This just looks like a disaster film in the vein of 2012 or SAN Andreas. Cruise has shown some comedic chops so it's such a waste to just have him as some serious action star in this franchise.

Wish it was a much more claustrophobic/small-scale movie

It's the first film for Universal's monster universe. The creature from the black lagoon, wolf man, and invisible man are supposed to be next

All these shared universes are really starting to piss me off.

Based on that info and the trailer, I'm guessing this movie ends with Tom cruise becoming the mummy in some way. No way there handing this franchise off to whoever the chick was being the mummy.

The Universal shared universe would be cool if they were making these horror movies but they are all going to be action movies.

I just can't get past this Mummy movie being my Mummy movie...

I also think Universal would've been better off remaking some of the lesser-known (to this generation) Monster movies before this one.

That would be different for sure and probably interest me more too. I don't know that I care much about this action movie monster universe that much.

I just really need them to get Dracula right. I didn't hate that last attempt but it can be done better.

Zero interest and I loved the Mummy and the Mummy Returns. Stop making these movies action adventures and go back to horror. Tom Cruise is a tool btw.

100% agree with you guys; I have zero interest in a monster "action" movie. I want a horror film. I actually didn't mind the wolfman movie from a few years ago.

Same here. It was a lot more violent than I expected. I just wish they let Rick Baker do the transformation scene instead of CGI.

Yep.

And this looks like just another Tom Cruise action clusterfrick.

I was shocked at how gory it was, but I felt like they did a good job staying true to and capturing the same mood as the 1941 Lon Chaney wolf man

What's the end game with this idea?

Just a giant mash up movie where monsters frick shite up... I see Russel Crowe is playing Dr. Henry Jekyll

That's a good question, It'll be interesting to see how they make this work. Rumor is Tom Cruise's character will turn out to be Van Helsing.

Was I the only one who thought that trailer looked really good?

Maybe I am a sucker for Cruise.
