You shouldn't be posting in this thread if you haven't watched it. There definitely is an alternate universe, and there really isn't any other reasonable interpretation imo.
Yeah. And no offense to other posters, but simply reposting the premise of the show or recounting how the Nazis won doesn't really answer the mail. I think we're beyond that.

in the future we invent a way to send objects back through time. someone has the bright idea to send warnings about hitler back in the form of films. hitler gets his hands on one and uses it to change the past.

or better yet it gets invented in the 60's and jap man trade minister will have to stop them from sending films back in season 2.

I hated the ending. I never read the book so I wasn't really expecting a sci-fi type twist. If that's what it's going to turn into, then I'll probably not continue watching.

I haven't read the book, but there's no reason it has to go full scifi redverse vs. blueverse. Just think of it as an intelligence source, whoever controls it has an advantage and the resistance has been giving it away for pennies on the dollar. It seems likely they'll have non scifi drama between Joe and Smith over Joe joining the resistance and then the love triangle between Joe/Juliana/Frank. It should be enough for the scifi to stay largely shadows.

What a bizarre last episode. I was thinking that films from an alternate universe were making their way to this universe, to inspire an uprising. But with Tagomi straight up leaping into an alternate universe, don't know what to think.

I don't think they'll focus too much of the sci-if aspect of it for most of the season. At least I hope they don't. I think the last scene was just to show that an alternative dimension existed.
