they mentioned on their panel that they will have a flashback scene of tommy meeting oliver in hong kong. so are they trying to get tommy back into peoples minds?
if ra's hates malcolm, would it not be out of the question that ra's would then use malcolm's son against him?

It's definitely going to be a great season. I can't wait to see how the dynamics between Oliver, Thea, and Malcolm play out. Oliver is going to be devastated when he finds out that Thea is with Malcolm, but they'll end up having to team up to fight Ra's and the League.
And I'm interested in how they portray Wildcat. I think he'll have to be something other than just a great boxer in order to start Laurel's training. I'm guessing he'll be some sort of ex-MMA fighter or something that can train her in something more than just boxing.

without a doubt. he was a boxer since it was the biggest sport at the time. im sure theyll update him in this way.

Wait is this a go? Because at Denver comic-con this summer Amell referred to Sarah's actress as "The Black Canary". it was a throwaway line, he just said it in passing, but is there a chance Laurel isn't becoming anything?
He referred to their mother being a villain as well.

Very cool. The Arrow producer's comments seem to indicate that Arrow could use Ras because he would not feature into the "Batfleck" universe. I think one could infer that DC will at least keep their film and TV universes separate - i.e. characters who appear in the Justice League film universe won't also appear on any of the TV series, played by different characters (Fox's Gotham series would be the exception, since it's events would presumably take place before any of the Justice League film storylines).

One thing you missed in your writeup is that Episode 8 of both shows is a 2 hour long crossover. I watched the SDCC panel. I just missed the name wildcat, my computer doesn't have great speakers. Wildcat and Laurel in the same sentence kind of seals though. I bet the comment from the Huntress about letting the darkness in is what leads her to call herself "Black" canary.

yeah i guess i shouldve thrown that in. they had announced that before the panel as well.
another thing is, Oliver does end up back on the island again at some point. not saying this season, but they did say again how the show starts with oliver leaving the island to go back to starling. so yeah, he does end up back on it.
they also squashed a rumor that Ivo was Felicity's father. they flat out said that he is not.

Sarah is the current Canary, but the showrunners have stated that what we are seeing is the origin of the Black Canary, and have strongly hinted that Laurel will eventually take up the mantel as the true Black Canary that we know from the comics. Now that can happen this season, next season, or they may change their mind and it not happen at all. But I think that was their plan from the beginning of the show.

FYI, the original Black Canary was a villain in the Johnny Thunder stories. She converted from thief to heroine.

idk how I feel about the mom being a villain. They hinted that Detective Lance will eventually (may already be) be a commissioner gordon to arrow.
so if the dinah lance thing is true the lances would have:
a hero daughter attached to the league
a daughter in hero training
a father who is basically Commissioner Gordon
a mother who is a villain
on paper, it sounds a bit ridiculous. hope it plays out better.

I thought it turned out that she was just infiltrating a criminal organization by playing a thief?
If she does turn out to be a villain (which I'm still skeptical of), I wonder what they do with her. I'm guessing it'll have to be something bigger than just a thief. I'm guessing they'll morph her into some other DC villain in order to make her a big enough deal for Oliver.
