Do you mean to say that GBH is not good?

If you don't like the Grand Budapest Hotel, you will not like Moonrise Kingdom. If you do like GBH, you will like Moonrise Kingdom. I thoroughly enjoyed both.

I like Wes movies, but I didn't really care for Moonrise Kingdom.

His style is definitely an homage to comedies like Harold and Maude and The Graduate, so I wouldn't call it original, but I like it nevertheless.

I randomly put on a silent movie called Warning Shadows (Schatten – Eine nächtliche Halluzination) on Netflix the other night and it introduced all the characters in a way very reminiscent of how Anderson tends to open his films.

It was interesting to see.

I wanted to like it, but it was awful. So very, very bad.

The Graduate is a comedy? News to me. I watched it with my gf when we first started dating and it was very awkward.

Yeah, I think most people consider it a comedy, though a subtle one like a lot of Wes movies. It doesn't have punch lines, so to speak, and though it has some serious situations included, it is certainly intended to be a funny movie.

I have to see a Wes Anderson movie I didn't like and this one was a good one. But my favorite so far was Moonrise Kingdom. I laughed so hard so several times almost wet my pants.

The scene where the girl and boy were standing in their underwear and kissing:

Girl: looks down "it's getting hard"
Boy: "do you mind?"

Mind you they are 12 y/o. Freaking hilarious.

I can run hot or cold on Wes Anderson films, but I really loved GBH, mainly because I think there is a warm, beating heart at the center of a style that can often leave a movie cold. Ralph Fiennes is just unbelievable in this and so deserves the Oscar nomination he likely won't get. And yes, I still laugh loudly every time I think of the phrase "Boy With Apple". It just tickles me.

I really liked it.

If you are a fan of Wes Anderson (I am) then that isn't surprising.

A bit sad though, but they all are I suppose.
