How? Hear me out.

1. There are too many good shows.

2. These too many good shows are way too much in these prime time slots.

Meaning what? It causes conflicts! You might like a show, but find out that the time slot it is shown in will have it murdered off due to the likes of what else good as hell is coming on to some other larger fan base(s) it is up against.

You also might like two to three shows that all air the same time these days. Which means you have to either pick one or hastle with setting a dvr to do some recording, if you dont stream any of the shows you like.

Plus, if you do stream shows to watch when you can, it is still just way too much to get to watch all of in good televison. Like your attention span surely has its limits, if we are being realistic. Or, it could be that you are too busy to get into what is way too much in hours upon hours to watch.
Agree or disagree? Express your view points.

You either believe that this is the golden age of t.v. or you dont buy into the hype of that being the case.

So I can either believe what you're telling me or not believe what you're telling me.

Are those my only 2 options?

God I wish there was some device or service through which I could watch any program at any time and there I'm not bound by TV schedules.

Maybe one day. I could call it something cool. Like Hulu. Or Netflix or dvr or Amazon video or maybe any network will post it's content on its own website and then I ocukd just log in via my cable provide and an app and watch or maybe I could use some crazy program like kodi and just watch anytbing anywhere.

Maybe.

Maybe one day.

Literally takes me three "clicks" on my remote to set a series to record.

I think we're still in the Golden Age of television though, especially with the continued advent of streaming services like Netflix, Prime, Hulu, etc. If anything, between streaming and DVR there's a solid platform to have a larger amount of quality shows. And with networks starting to use those DVR numbers when assessing the quality of shows, it'll continue to grow IMO.

That all said, it's been the cable/premium channels that have consistently created the influx of quality television. Without them we're in some serious doldrums.

Depends on how one defines the age, I would say.

It is clearly a golden age on basic cable and pay channels but the shortcomings of broadcast network TV are clear at this point.

The British model of seasons containing 6-12 episodes has paid dividends in storytelling for the cable channels but it severely exposed the problems with the traditional 20-25 episode seasons in the process.

The brevity of a number of these series' seasons means that you can have one time slot dedicated to great shows and just rotate them every 3 months.

While I see HBO et all continuing their prestige series and the basic cable channels catering to specific audiences, I don't see how broadcast TV continues just by pandering to the lowest common denominator.

You still face good t.v. being murdered due to time slots factor, which is regardless of if you stream it later or buy a dvd to it released later. It can be canceled to discontinue being made period.

Time can be the factor that is the real complication in your watching of shows, to you who dvr things for later. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hulu has took a turn for the worst. How? I lived to tell. They added to the number of comercials they must show. They also started putting too many good shows' 2nd seasons and onward under subscription. Meaning, lots more stuff has become not so free, regardless of the add to the comercials they must show. I've also noticed a trend of good show being removed from being streamable though hulu.

The only stream site that is pretty good is the CW one. You are in luck if you dig any shows on CW. I dig "the 100" and "supernatural".

I only do free streaming sites. Which also include the NBC one and the A&E one, depending on liked televison of course.

Let's break this argument down...

So, you're arguing there's too many great shows, and that's an argument AGAINST this being a golden age? That makes no sense whatsoever. That's an argument for it being the golden age.

Wait, so because there are too many good shows, the golden age of TV stopped?

Sounds legit.

Yeah, solid point. I fricking hate having all these good shows to choose from for my entertainment. It's terrible the choices that I have to make.

Another excellent point, if only there was a way to watch them later when I want on demand, or possibly record the episodes and watch when I'm free and there is nothing good on. Someone should come up with those concepts, and in a hurry. Maybe some sort of on demand service could start coming up with their own shows and just release entire seasons at once so the viewers can watch at their convenience? That would be some real revolutionary shite.

In summary, you're a fricking idiot.

Yes. Time is the problem. Not timing.

There are plenty of programs that I would like to watch and have the ability to DVR or stream. But I do not have 16 hours a day to watch television.

Hold up. Why did you skip giving an opinion on the murder of some good shows to some people via time slots of other good shows to another some people?

Uh huh, got cha! You failed when going around the prime example to how come this is no longer the golden age due to way too many good shows packed into same time slots.

In short, many of you act like it doesnt suck when a good show you follow religiously gets murdered, due to a conflict via the time slot it airs.

Do dvr, do stream, or do wait to buy dvd release, and these things still will not prevent the murdering of some good shows you may in fact be rooting for further more of, due to too many good shows airing in certain same time slots.
