Based on a series of Hugo-nominated novels by authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, The Expanse stars Thomas Jane as a police detective operating out of the asteroid belt, investigating the disappearance of a missing heiress. Threading the line between the network’s highbrow fare like the upcoming Childhood’s End, and shows where people wander abandoned office buildings looks for the world’s most boring ghost, the series looks like it has the potential to be good, pulpy fun. (It’s also, for some reason, the second show—after The Magicians—from the network’s current slate to feature scenes of zero-gravity boning, suggesting the possibility that someone at Syfy is working out their personal paraphilia in as public a forum as humanly possible.)

Good stuff so far. Need a core sci-fi property since the rest seem to be failing - Almost Human last year, Minority Report this year. Solid first episode, a little jumbled just given the amount of storylines.

I wish they would hurry up and make a series picking up where the movie Parallels left off

Sweet. I've read all of the books and novellas for that series. They better do it right.

Watched the "premiere" last night and thought it had real potential. The show definitely stayed in my head for bit after watching.

I was surprised at the production values, etc. Ship interiors, gravity (except the hair early on), ship exteriors, all pretty decent and detailed.

I'm in.
