I have done this many times but not in a few years. I can remember being so blatant about it that I heard workers say "that kids been here a while" I was around 10 or 11 I guess. There is a website that will allow you to plan out your theater hopping but I can't remember the address.

I did this a bunch of times back in the day. It was much more challenging when "big" theaters had 4 screens

I once bought a ticket for 8 Mile but mistakenly went to Sweet Home Alabama.

Still don't know why my friend and I didn't leave when we figured out we were in the wrong theater.

if a movie i have paid to see was bad enough for me to walk out (and only 1 film has ever done that to me), then my desire to see a movie is pretty well bashed for the day and I go find something else to do.

Also this, though I've never walked out of a movie before.

I can see it being technically "wrong", but I see nothing criminal about purchasing a ticket for one movie and seeing another (unless you're trying to insert yourself into a sold out feature).

I'm old enough to remember when each theater showed only one movie, and you could sit and watch a movie repeatedly without having to get up and buy another ticket. The staff would clean up around you between each show. I remember my big brother and I sitting through multiple viewings of Rio Lobo and Kelly's Heroes.

I have never gone to a movie that sucked this bad in theaters. It costs so much that I don't go unless I know I'll like the movie.

Damn that was a good day.

out of context, sure.

the reason i know i saw those movies in that order on that day (august 9, 1985 btw)
bc it was the day my grandmother who lived with us passed away suddenly. my friends' dad brought us to the movies to get me out of the house (especially bc my mom was having a rough time)

i do remember enjoying all three (although real genius and goonies more so) and if anything allowed me a day of escape before going home to a greiving mom and a dad trying to comfort her.

and i'm not trying to be debbie downer with this post, actually the opposite. that movies allowed me to escape a grim although temporary reality.

even if my friends' dad only paid for one of them.

I did this only once when out on a date when I was 19 or 20. We bought tickets for "Tom Cats" and just decided to see "Chocolate" instead. I never felt bad about doing it.

Wait, you are calling someone an arse*ole for requesting a movie refund but you got two-fers or three-fers for the price of one? Gotcha

I buy tickets for 2d and see a 3d movie and also stay for 2. Those bastards keep raising prices I need to get my money's worth!

I also always buy a ticket for the current Disney movie playing because I get free stuff for the ticket stubs.

When I was 16 two friends and I went to Cimema 11 and bought tickets to Aristocats and then snuck in to Risky Business. About 5 minutes before the movie started the manager came in and busted us. He didn't even let us go see Aristocats, we had to leave the theatre. a-hole.

As we were leaving I noticed that ALL of the movies on that side were rated R except the G rated Aristocats. Pretty easy to tell that a couple of teenagers aren't going to see a Disney movie, they're trying to be sneaky and see Rebecca DeMornay's fun bags in all their glory.

That's the one and only time I've done it.

I can't sit still for 4+ hours like that unless i'm being paid, so i've never done multiple screenings like that before

You just plan it out ahead of time. The bathroom at my theater has 2 exits (one for each side of the theater) so after one movie ends I walk through the bathroom to give the impression I just went for a bathroom break before exiting out of the other side into the next movie.

Although I didn't really address it above, the title of the thread is "The ETHICS of going from one theater to another in a multiplex".

If you watch a movie to the end, then go in to another movie and watch it, in my opinion it's no different than walking in to a store and stealing something. You paid for one movie, you saw two. You "stole" a movie.

Which is the reason I've never done it. When I was 16 and trying to sneak in to Risky Business, I was just dying to see a gorgeous naked woman, not cartoon jazz cats. I didn't go in trying to get two movies for the price of one.

We bought tickets to Terms on Enderment to sneak into Scarface. They had a video game in between the screens, so we just casually walked into Scarface. An usher came in looking for something, but never came by us.
