She's no Amy Pond, though.

Which is a good thing. I hated Amy. The only good part about Amy is Rory. Amy is terrible. Worst companion other than Romana II.

This thread could devolve quickly.

What was so bad about Romana II? I've only seen a couple with her but thought she was fine. City of death is one of my top episodes old or new. I think that was her.

Amy got better as the series went on as she became more devoted to Rory, and she kept choosing him over the doctor.

Worst companion for me is Rose and it's not close. She brings every episode she is in down. She really brings 10's arc down.

From the moon episode - The lady that was the female astronaut survived several seasons of MI-5. Was nice to see her again.

She seems very reminiscent of Adelaide from Waters of Mars.

She wasn't Romana I..

speaking of Romana,, love to see a return, what a great way to break the cycle of child-sidekicks.

Just finished a rewatch of mummy on the orient express. A few thoughts: (spoilers)

Like nearly every other episode this season (save time heist), a good episode was even better on rewatch. I can't get over how perfect capaldi is for this role. He always has lines that I miss the first time due to his rapid fire delivery and thick accent, and they're always worth going back to catch.

Capaldi's spot on impersonation of Tom baker while talking to himself was uncanny. I closed my eyes and found it hard to tell the difference. It was like he was using different incarnations to each give input into the mystery. What a wonderful moment. I would like to see more of this. I thought he did a decent Matt Smith in his first episode.

at those who "thought the ending was rushed." of course it was, he had to solve it under 66 seconds. And what a wonderful 66 it was, worth watching several times over. He has time to make jokes "are you my mummy?", psychoanalyze the girl's relationship with her grandmother, and make enough observations to solve the problem.

The first time I thought the transformation of Clara was abrupt at the end, and it was a bit but not nearly as much as I thought. Basically every scene she had was informing her decision to stay, which was much more obvious to me the second time.

What was the deal with the doctor's phone with the hanging cord? I just found it strange.

Doesn't Clara know rule #1??? Maybe river song didn't tell her.

On the whole one of the best in a season of good to great episodes. I think I'd have to wait until the season is over to properly rank them, but so far Listen is still my favorite.

End spoilers.

I'm a bit confused by Clara suddenly forgiving the Doctor and ignoring what happened in the previous episode.

This was a great episode. It finally gave us a really good Doctor moment at the end with Clara on the stone beach.

Excellent all around.

rumor has it Jenna Coleman wants out of the series at the end of the season, so it makes sense to keep some disharmony bubbling up.

Great episode, iMO.

A I can really add that hasn't been said is:

/drooooool @ Clara in this episode. I think I was sporting wood the entire episode because of her outfit. She looked stunning as a 20s girl.

Now why one earth would she want out of the series?

I've heard nothing that she wants out, just that she's leaving.

Again, her hair was terrible in the last episode. Kind of killed the look for me.

not trying to justify it, just passing the info along...

this is why I'm hoping for a reboot of The Romana, kinda tired of the teenage girl-side kick meme.

me too,, Clara's throw back, Victorian look was always better than her modern look for me.

At the risk of getting ragged on, I hope the next companion isn't a gorgeous woman from modern times in her early- to mid-20s. They need to break that string and change stuff up. I would like to see a Han Solo/Jack Harkness/Mal Reynolds-type rogue traveling with the Doctor. Think that would work good with Capaldi.

I know I'm going to catch shite for this... but I liked Donna Noble. Even more so in retrospect.

Donna is the best New-Who companion. I really want them to do something to fix her ending.

Donna is my favorite new companion. She would be great with this doctor. Her ending was so heartbreaking, it would be nice to see her regain her memory and travel in time and space again.

Neither rose nor Donna fit this description, but at least donna was a great character.

Agree. Especially since she saved the world at least once.
