The Challenges of James Bond 25

That's the problem with the current status of the series right there. Bond movies don't have to have some sort of in-depth symbolism. They don't have to reflect the real world. Bond doesn't have to battle his demons or the people from his past. That's part of the reason that the end of Spectre painted the series into a corner. They have screwed themselves because they only have two paths forward and neither is very exciting.
Just make a movie where Bond is given a mission, he seduces a girl, kills the villain, and saves the world. You can do that without making another Die Another Day. The last movie where Bond didn't "go rogue" or quit was The World Is Not Enough.

Fans of 007 have been wondering what the story is with the next James Bond film, known only as Bond 25 at this point, and why there hasn’t been much in the way of news on the subject. Part of it may be that producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are waiting for Daniel Craig’s schedule to be free to fit the next film in, and part of it may be that they just don’t know which was to go following the mixed reaction that the last film, Spectre, received by critics.
Neal Purvis, who with Robert Wade co-wrote every Bond film from 1999’s The World Is Not Enough through 2012’s Skyfall, while also contributing to Spectre, was interviewed by The Telegraph and offered up some of the potential challenges facing the new film creatively. “I’m just not sure how you would go about writing a James Bond film now,” he said. “Each time, you’ve got to say something about Bond’s place in the world, which is Britain’s place in the world. But things are moving so quickly now that that becomes tricky. With people like Trump, the Bond villain has become a reality. So when they do another one, it will be interesting to see how they deal with the fact that the world has become a fantasy.”

They have gotten rid of everything that made a bond film enjoyable. Since hollywood is against making a movie where a white male has testosterone, go ahead and cast idris elba so we can at least get back to a decent bond film.

Keep it simple, stupid.

I prefer rapist, misogynist Bond to sjw Bond.

This...we don't need some deep, symbolic movie, that was never what the old bond was about...
Guns, girls, humor, cars, explosions, save the world.
Really simple.

Casino Royale is arguably the best Bond movie ever. Unfortunately, the producers have been chasing the ghost of that movie ever since by having Bond fight some various inner-demons and going on a personal journey in each movie. Spectre was 2-3 plot points away from being a spectacular movie. Unfortunately, they had to overthink things and make Bond go rogue again, have Blofeld be his long-lost half brother who is directly responsible for the last three movies, and then have Bond fall in love after a few days & quit again.

I think making Bond films direct sequels to the last one hurt the mystique of the franchise a bit.
We have 4 Craig films with only 2 of them worth a shite and the story didn't really get going until Spectre, right when Craig wants to leave.

I agree and. It only does it hurt the mystique, it dooms the series to having to "reboot" again whenever Craig steps down.

Its like Hollywood is trying to perfect anti-marketing...

From Russia With Love was simple and solid. Just get a turncoat chick with a decoder to the West.
Motorboat chase scene was crap, but the chase scenes always seem to be hit or miss.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I've really enjoyed Craig as Bond, even if the story line has faltered. However, I do agree the story arc of Craig's Bond has seemingly reached a creative impasse post-Spectre as to where to go or what to do next.
If this will indeed be Craig's last film, IMO it may make the most sense to extend and "wrap up" his current story line in the next installation.
Then, with the new Bond, perhaps they can start us in a prior time period (e.g. pre-WW2, Cold War era, etc.) for that series of films. Not only would it provide an "easy" creative answer to the next story/villain problem, but it would also stave off a complete reboot set in modern times (which appears to be the only real choice once Craig departs...). Then, in 10-15 years bring us back to then-modern day when the next Bond is up.

that's true, but when they go this route the movie usually ends up being shite.

Thought Daniel craig would rather die than play bond again or some shite?

I'd be kind of shocked if Craig signed on to another Bond film.

I think his deal has 1 more movie on it

If he comes back, then they'll probably kill off Madeline in order for Bond to return. Which means he is probably out for revenge....just like Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace.
If Craig leaves, then the new Bond would have to either be rebooted or adopt the same universe/background that Craig's Bond had. If they reboot, then they'll basically have to ditch everything they spent 4 movies building up.
The series is literally painted in a corner.

How about not stealing a plot line from Austin Powers and making the ultimate villian a pussy with daddy issues for a start?
That was the payoff of the Craig movies...petty jealousy.
