Why Canadian Club? It is pretty cheap. These guys could afford better. Am now at the end of season six.

Best guess it was to keep the advertising theme - all the Canadian whiskeys have been big advertisers. And, I guess, it's implied it was one of their clients (but I don't recall if that's explicit or not and did not watch the last few seasons of the show).
And, second thought, maybe it's both meta and subversive - maybe Canadian Club paid for product placement?

Canadian Club was an iconic advertisement in Times Square during that time period, alongside Admiral televisions.
Admiral televisions also were integrated (no pun intended) into a race and advertising plot during one Mad Men episode (looks like "The Fog" from 2009 season).

My step dad drinks it. He's cheap. Great guy, though. So I drink it as well. I like it with a splash of water.

Good article on this topic here: LINK
Short answer is that Canadian whiskey used to be a lot more popular, especially during and after Prohibition. If you look at magazines from the Mad Men era, Canadian Club also did a shitload of advertising.
