I don't get the hate for Wolf of Wall Street. I thought it was fantastic.

big short = very good book, but it'll be tough to make into a movie. how do explain collateralized debt obligations and tranches in a movie?

marci, there's a lot you don't get. Like it's ok not to have a man crush on all things Leo. Like how The Rolling Stones are the greatest rock-n-roll band and Creed really does suck but the movie just went overboard with the excess. Maybe it seems with the title people were expecting more of the story about the how he created and operated his business, the corruption, and how he duped, cheated, lied to people more than his story of narcissism and quaalude abuse. Let me rephrase. Anybody over the age of 30 is probably put off by a 3 hour movie celebrating a douche bag.

That said, the country club scene of him getting in his lambo and driving off was freaking hilarious.

to me, the only Leo movie in the last 20 years that wasn't very good/great was J. Edgar. Leo picks him films better than anyone.

Margin Call does a decent job of it. As does that HBO original movie, can't remember what its called.

It should be fine.

Thats the one. Solid movie.

And WOWS absolutely kicked arse. Anyone saying otherwise I wouldn't drink a beer with.

Nice coincidence that Wolf of Wall Street and The Big Short are both Christmas releases, and both come/came out at the same time as David O. Russell's Christmas releases (American Hustle and Joy).

WoWS and American Hustle made for a great double feature. Looking forward to the Big Short/Joy double feature.

I enjoy white collar financial themed movies, but I am afraid that Big Short will be way overbearing in the liberal agenda. Of course they are going to make big banks look as bad as possible in the film. I understand the banks did some shady shite but I hate movies that make big bad boogey-men out of corporations that make a profit.

Historical looks at the rise and crash of American finance. Similar subject matter, separate takes.

Wolf of Wall Street wasn't that bad, it just went on about 35 minutes or so too long, and they kind of over did it during the quaalude scene

They tried way to hard to be raunchy and vulgar. I don't mind some of that in a movie but they were over the top. Seemed their target demo was Dan Bilzerian fan boys. Movie could of been much better but they blew it to pander to douchebags.

Inside Job, WOWS, and The Big Short.

Trifecta.

Can show tranches by showing a 30 story building and the worst shite in the basement and first 2 floors.
