I'm moving into a new place and the previous owner had DirectTV. Not knowing that, I chose to self install Comcast. Am I going to have to call a tech or is there a way for me to switch it where it comes into the house?

I'm sorry, but under no fricking circumstances should you switch to Comcast. They are a cesspool of a company, maybe the single worst organization in the history of the United States. If you've already switched, please proceed to shove a stick of margarine up your arse and prepare yourself for the epic arse-ramming you are about to receive.

They've made this year for me an absolute living hell. To start off, they wouldn't allow me to cancel my grandmother's Comcast subscription because she wasn't there to cancel in person, and she just died. Never raised more hell in my life, asking if I should summon the local necromancer to bring her back to cancel her subscription. Had to get my mom to come in and lie and say it was her.

Then I move to Atlanta, and low and behold they aren't there to install my internet on time. I ask them to come install it on Saturday, they say they will, and they don't come again. Takes until fricking Monday after work before the moron finally shows up.

Few weeks back I moved from Atlanta, and after dealing with their bullshite yet again for over 3 fricking hours on the phone, I have to go to 3 different Comcast locations in Atlanta to drop the damn thing off and cancel it. Got a bill last month which bills me for the month of September. Needless to say, I'm pissed. The morons back in Atlanta apparently thought I wanted to temporarily store it there (despite the fact that I had the receipt that said otherwise), and I need to fly all the way back to Atlanta to pick it up and resubmit the cancellation in person. After another 2 hours on the phone, I finally raised enough hell to get it canceled.

I don't care if Directv is 20 dollars a month more than Comcast, don't go with Comcast. Directv is a quality company that doesn't treat you like a fricking leper. It's not worth the absolute living hell the Comcast people will put you through. They are either the biggest bunch of dumb fricks in the world that make McDonald's employees look like Apple programers or they are a bunch of narcissists who get off on making your life an absolute living hell. frick Comcast since I don't know anyone who hasn't had an absolute living hell dealing with those assholes.

All that OMLandshark said.

All of that.

Read it and see the anger and gnashing of teeth that Comcast sows.

As I said, shove a stick of margarine up your arse, because they are about to take up at least 6-8 hours of your day making your life a living hell. You fricked up already and they'll try to frick you over in any way they can.

I looked it up after raising hell, and it had a simply incredible rating of 3% customer satisfaction rating. I can only hope that every executive in that company get on a private jet, crash on an undiscovered island, and slowly die due to some Lord of the Flies bullshite until there is one man left standing and then starves to death himself.

Shortly after Hurricane Ike hit the Galveston, Texas area in 2008, customers received bills and later collection notices for unreturned equipment that was destroyed during the storm. One customer reported a $931 bill which included a $66 credit for interrupted phone service, but also included a $1000 charge for not returning her rented DVR, Cable Modem, and other equipment. Comcast responses differed after the storm, with some Customer Care agents telling customers to file with their insurance providers, and other agents advising customers to return their equipment, even if it was ruined or moldy.

So should I frick up the equipment and tell them that's how I got it? Or will they just try to charge me for it?

They tried to charge my dead grandmother for cable subscription for the rest of eternity because she wasn't capable of canceling it in person. Do you really think they wouldn't charge you for that?

You know you have to buy all the DirectTV equipment and sign a contract?

I've had cable for years and I guess I'm just lucky. Yeah, it is a pain getting someone out, but it's free.

I've never had any luck with satellite. But look what happened when my neighbor cut one half of my oak tree off because that's what the satellite folks said he had to do. (Turns out he didn't)

Still not as bad as dealing with Comcast.

I've had Comcast for a while and I haven't really had any problems with them. I've called them a couple of times when I had a problem and they've always sent someone out to fix it either later that day or the next morning.
