Supremely underrated. He makes all the shows he does with Ricky Gervais. Although I like him, Gervais always has an air of, "Look at me, I'm telling a joke right now!" about him. Merchant, on the other hand, can deliver the most ridiculous lines like he truly actually believes and means what he is saying.

He had a series on HBO called Hello Ladies that is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. It lasted one season.

Started "The Outlaws" on prime strictly because he was in it. Did not regret.
