Wasn't sure if this belonged here or the OT.

This will be the largest single themed land expansion in the company’s history, encompassing a staggering 14 acres.

Everything will fall into the Star Wars universe and will stay in the official canon. The new stories for the Star Wars expansion will be based on The Force Awakens, as well as the original saga.

Two new attractions will be designed for the area. One will feature the Millennium Falcon and allow guests to take the controls in a climatic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

And we thought the line for the Aerosmith Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was long . . .

Disney needs something like this to counter the Harry Potter themed areas at Universal (which are awesome by the way).

Cool stuff though.

Hollywood Studios needed this. It has become the worst park there and only worth half a day at most. Twilight Zone, Rock'n Roller Coaster and Fantasmic are the only 3 that made it decent. Indian Jones stunt show was completely outdated as was Lights, Motor, Action. Star tours is just a simulator. Muppets needs a new script... outdated. And then there was a ton of unused space.

But to your point, this should really lighten the load on that attraction as well as other parks.

People are expecting a "Pixar Land" too.

You can forget about that. Disney Springs, Magic Kingdom Hub, Pandora, hotel refurbs... Star Wars likely won't be complete until 2019 or 2020. Disneyland will get it first

I'm sure this is taking over the Indiana Jones show but will it also use parking lot space?

Many are guessing that. With parking moving to underground garage type.

The first Harry Potter area in Universal is 20 acres and it's super cramped with all the people at times.

With all the space available from ride closures/expansion ability, I expected it to be bigger

Hogsmead is cramped into a corner of the park with a single walk through with most of the area dedicated to large rides while people are forced into a small "street" and small stores. This is a little different.

That being said, 14 acres of "expansion" may mean using new areas like backstage areas and current parking.
