which is bullshite, especially Episode III which deals with murdering children and has a dude get horribly disfigured in lava

Perfectly said. I can't think of a better example. People who are apprehensive about the Disney Star Wars, really how could it get any worse?

this
I had a friend that worked there when the movies were being made, and most thought it was shite, but it was his money and his deal. No one was taking him out of the seat.
The corollaries between his rise in independent movies and move to mainstream and studio power figure, and his emperor arc were rather funny.

For just the movie maybe, but unless his agent was a complete moron he got a cut of merchandising and dvd sales. Lucas basically made this movie specifically with merchandising in mind and that kid's face was everywhere. He had to have made a few million.

But once that opening weekend was over, and the air settled, I can only assume his PR team was "well buddy, this isn't going well, you're about to have to start doing interviews, and answering some tough questions......here's how we're going to approach this....."
Next thing you know, the interviwer would hardly get the second "jar" out of his mouth and Lucas would knee-jerk "IMADETHISMOVIEFORKIDS"

One of the best parts of the Plinket reviews was splicing these talking points with the complex legalese and political speak that litters all 3 prequels or better yet showing a bunch of babies sitting around watching said scenes

Ever since Red Letter Media's review of the prequel films, you see a lot of people trying to pass off Plinket opinions as their own.
And I have seen a lot of it here.

I'm sure he has some kind of royalties comin in, but what kind of bargaining power does that kid really have? People like Nicholson get merchandizing money. Unknown, first time acting, eight year olds don't get that.

The kid was at an open casting call. It's not as if he was a star at the time who actually could negotiate some big figure. Absolute tops he got about 5 million with merchandising.
Yeah, seems badass, but I'd imagine he'll go through it pretty quickly. Have a friend that got a million dollar lawsuit less than 10 years ago, and like a moron, he's already spent it all. I really don't think Jake Lloyd is mentally sound, and his money isn't enough to buy happiness from it.

Honestly, the kid's life got fricked by Star Wars. He was probably paid half a million, and then his life was ruined. The kid is pretty fricked in the head, all because of Star Wars. He didn't make tens of millions or anything.
Ruined how? Did Lucas diddle him or something? Kid sucked in some movie and he's infamous for it but if that ruined his life he's a little bitch.

He just didn't respond well to pressure. He got bullied pretty terribly in school from what I understand, doesn't have friends, and is now so socially inept that he can't make friends or live a normal life. Just listen to one of his interviews and it's clear the kid is pretty fricked up.

Agreed. I doubt he got 2 million.

I have, he sounds like a little whiny bitch
How awful

Agree
And this is being extremely generous.

While true, some people are simply better equipped to handle that sort of situation than others.

At some point he should have just clocked one of them and i bet it would have stopped but whatever

I mean, he is, but I doubt he'd be even close as bad if he didn't do SW.
And he's not even one of the worse examples of child actors gone bad to be honest. I guess he could get a job doing something in accounting or software design or something, but many child actors end up much worse than that.

Seriously. Some people can handle it and have either muscles, a sharp tongue, or both to back them up in their youth. Some kids just don't have either of these and are really sensitive. Sure we may see them as pussies, but personally the press and paparazzi would make me flip my shite. I'm not sure if I'd be cut out for that, even if I could take Star Wars jokes by my peers at my expense.
