Me too. Khan can take a beating from Kirk and not blink, can survive a starship crashing into a friggin city but Spock can break his arm.
Spock was dominated in the fight.
Only after Kahn had resisted 20 or so stuns was Spock able to come from behind and break his arm.

While taking a break from bashing the plot, there is some excellent and subtle humor. I think my favorite is when Kirk introduces Scotty and Khan to each other like they're at a party --
quote:
Scotty -- Khan. Khan -- Scotty.

Strong enough to take out Kahn? Who knows. But I'd take an enraged Spock over Kirk any day. Kirk would be ground beef by the time it was over with.
Yup. In the Original series Spock lost control and was kicking the shite out of Kirk. Vulcans are super human strong so it's not a stretch that he could go toe to toe with the big bad in this. But people forget...until the intervention Spock was losing that fight.

you're right. 21st century. I was typing fast and pulling from memory, I know little of the eugenics wars. Never really cared to see where Mr. Noonian-Singh came from.

There isn't too much info out there anyways, but they produced a hell of a superhuman

1. This film opens in the 23rd century -- I think if I remember in 2259. If Kahn and his people are 300 years old, they would have had to have been "genetically engineered" in the mid to late 1900's. How in the frick does a 300 year old guy possess the kind of intelligence to design ships and weapons systems appropriate for the 23rd century? And how in the world could a late 20th century Earth have dispatched Kahn and his people into deep space? Which brings me to my next question ...
This is more of a flaw with the original series. In the 1960s series, its stated that Khan and his company are made in the 1990s. The first change in the universe is when Nero came back in time, roughly thirty years ago before this film. So anything preceding Nero's arrival remains the same.

6. Someone mentioned this before but you beam a 90 pound babe onto a moving platform to assist in the fight against Khan?
Yeah, definitely should have sent down a security officer.

or 12.
But you have to let them have their dramatic ending...

right, could have just sent a whole bunch of red shirts down to be killed and still have the same end effect.

Spock was losing the fight but still was doing fairly well considering Khan whipped a bunch of Klingons shortly before...Klingons seem pretty strong too. Klingon vs Vulcan, anyone?

Id go vulcan for the win.
Klingons are warriors but much of their strategy depends on blindly horrific brute force.
Vulcans consider each move before striking which made the Bad Guy Spock fight so cool to watch. They were circling each other like chess masters.

Just saw it, pretty much agree with the OP.
I feel like I got a hell of a good preview for what to expect from the next Star Wars movie though. It's clearly a SW guy making ST movies.

I also wish we had gotten more of the chess match stuff with Khan. He wasn't really "himself" until the very end of the movie.

so good you posted it thrice.

A triple post that I don't mind

Quality triple post. She is absolutely smoking. Honestly everyone in that movie is. It's really as if (and not entirely implausible) that they've all been genetically engineered to be as smoking as possible.

Lol, I guess my tablet wanted to post it 3 times. I swear I only hit submit once.
