They just did table reads for Season 2 two or three months ago. It will almost certainly be 2024 before it comes out.

Made the mistake of trying to watch this thinking it was actually season 2. AWFUL!!!

I missed this thread the first time around. But yeah that trailer looks horrible. Nobody cares about a challenge type game show based on SG. We just want S2. What a cheap ripoff.

Very important to understand this.

I did start The Challenge (knowing it was a reality show) and I am not ready to say it sux yet. If I expected Season 2 instead I would be bitterly disappointed. The prize pool is already over $2 million 25 minutes in. I am home alone and just recuperating from yesterday (and last night) so I will keep watching at least for a while.

The moment you realize David Wooderson let his hair grow out and is playing Squis Game.

I finished the 5 episodes that are out, there are 5 more coming over the next two weeks. I have to say I really got into it. The Red Light Green Light was a little cheesy but for me it ramped up from there. If you keep in mind they are playing for over $4.5 million while death isn't on the line that is 3 Survivor wins plus 2 Big Brother wins and some change so it is pretty serious.

There are some things that are the same but the differences are well thought out IMO and make it much more interesting than a straight copy since nobody dies. It may be the fact it is in English but I found myself rooting for and against many more players than I did in Squid Game. The cliff hanger at the end of E5 has me looking forward to next week. For what it is worth the audience score on RT is 89% where the critics are 42% which usually means I will like it in a fun ride kinda way which turned out to be my take so far.

I will put in another plug for The Devil's Plan which is a Korean reality contest also on Netflix that I thought was really good but didn't get much attention.



ETA I should add it is an interesting cast where I didn't feel like any of them were looking to add to their SM clout. There are some LGBTQ players but it seems in line with actual population distribution and so far only one person mentions it in the "diary room sessions" I don't remember it coming up at all inside the game. #161 didn't say anything but his diary room attire was "interesting".

That one guy from that episode might be the biggest bitch I’ve ever come across on a reality show. He’s what you get when people are shielded from conflict and have never actually stood up for themselves.
