Jerry Seinfeld (of all people) actually came onto Meyers show just to call him out for his bullshite.
Did you forget that Meyers explained to Jerry that he wasn't saying he'd never make a joke about Caitlyn Jenner?

Some points:
Norm is amazing but there's no way that he could maintain a talk show for more than a couple of years. And based on his track record, his fans are many but don't show up to watch his shows.
Meyers isn't the best ever, but he's second best in late night right now (IMHO). He's the closest thing that we have to Letterman's original Late Night show. Every other show is a loud, bright, over-produced parody of what Letterman was doing. (Louder than Carson as well.)
And on the Meyers/Jenner kerfuffle... Ferguson did similar boycotts of certain celebrity fiascos. Letterman did as well. Letterman famously avoided joking about O.J. Simpson while Leno had the Dancing Ito's every night.
