On the female celebs thread, someone commented that Bull Durham would have been a better movie with someone other than Susan Sarandon playing the old baseball groupie. Who would you cast in place of Susan Sarandon?

Sarandon was 42 when Bull Durham was released. Looking for other actresses from the same time frame,1988.

My replacement would have been Raquel Welch. She would have been 48 the year Bull Durham was released.

Cher

Seriously, would have been better - although Sarandon wasn't bad.

While I think a lot of the dialogue between Sarandon and Costner was stupid, she was a saucy older broad and pretty hot in her younger days. Why do you think another actress would have been better with the same writers?

I'm sticking with Sarandon. She's a good actress and pretty sexy. She fit the role really well. People don't like her because she's a super liberal. That's all.

Geena Davis.

We later learned that she could pass as someone who knew something about baseball.

True, but could she be trusted? She did drop that ball on purpose.

This is her in 1988...

She would fit the bill for the movie.

Still hot but also looks like someone who has been around the block chasing Minor Leaguers. But they'd have to change her character away from New Age weirdo.

If Alyssa Milano was a decade older, she would have been perfect for the role since she's a baseball groupie in real life.
