I'm not saying Batiatus wasn't a fun character to watch. Often the worst of individuals are portrayed as interesting characters. Its a device that's been used in dramas as long as there have been dramas.
I didn't care for his actions. He was never anything other than a weasel to me. Like the rest of the Romans in that series.

Just started the show last night. The first episode is bad, IMO. (ETA: Only made it halfway through the first episode before I crashed, so I haven't finished the episode. But I'm not hooked. Pretty boring episode.)
