Heard so much about this historic show, with a new season coming out, I figured I'd get caught up to see what all the hype is about. I'm also into films that are kind of strange (e.g. like David Lynch has a reputation for being), so thought I'd give it a go.

After S1, either this show has REALLY not aged well, or I'm missing something. I found it comically poorly acted, goofy af, and not all that unique (although it may have been in its day).

So, a few questions:

1. Am I missing something? If so, what?
2. Is S2 better, or should I just give up now if I don't dig it?

Have you ever seen a David Lynch movie? The acting is weird in all of them. Twin Peaks is supposed to be like a surreal soap opera. You shouldn't think of it as reality, more like some weird dream world.

Season 2 is mostly bad but the ending is great.

S2 was better in my opinion. But if you didn't like S1 give S2 two-three episodes and if you don't like by then stop there. And don't even try to watch the new one. It takes about 10 episodes before it gets good and there is a ton of so far needless shite thrown into each epsiodes. The soundtrack isn't that bad though.

I liked the idea and plot. But a lot of the supernatural stuff and cliched soap opera twists were just too much for me.

For David Lynch, Twin Peaks was pretty normal actually lol.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm a fan of Lynch's works for the most part, but I could not get into the original twin peaks (tried to watch it a couple of years ago). Now I'm actually watching the new episodes and I dig it so far, even w/o watching the older 'sodes. I did read a synopsis just to keep me in the loop a little bit.

Try just reading a summary of S's 1 and 2, and pick up with the Return

I recently re-watched the first and 2nd season. The show itself to me is more of a night time soap opera. The first season was much better than the second in my opinion. The introductions of the main characters was great, with exception to Laura's mom, fricking can't stand any scene she's in. I feel like somewhere towards the beginning of season 2 the show lost its way, either they never thought they'd make it that far, or they were just making it up along the way and got lucky that season one went well, i don't know. I get a sense that the writers didn't know who to pin Laura's murder on and then just winged it. I really hated both the Leo story line and the Windom earl story line. I liked that there was a back story and the idea of Windom Earl stalking Coop, but I just didn't like how it was played out on the show.

I haven't watched any of the new season, but I plan on watching eventually. Also haven't watched the Fire Walk with me movie either, but will eventually get to it.

i fell in love with TP almost immediately. the scene of the principal announcing Laura's death over the intercom while the camera slowly crawls through the empty hallways is still haunting to this day. the music is legendary.

the acting is supposed to be cheesy, it's meant to be like a soap opera with surreal and supernatural elements.

Season 2 is mostly trash. Use this - it's scary how accurate it is:

22 is a must-watch.

and DEFINITELY watch the Return

I agree. I was fortunate to be able to watch it when it first aired, and it was unlike anything i had ever seen before, and, to an extent, unlike anything i've seen after.
