Sorry guys but Game of Thrones is extremely boring to me. Don't care what your opinions of the show are. My vote definitely goes to Sons of Anarchy.

Well guys, GoT seems to be the consensus pick here, but let me remind you all that SoA has dudes who smoke cigritts and ride motorcycles...that's pretty damn cool! SoA it is!!

Despite the dragons and smoke demon babies, I find Game of Thrones much more believable and realistic than SoA.

GoT and it isn't even close.

Ok. I'm convinced. I'm starting GOT today.

So, how much have you already heard about what happens in GoT? If you haven't head a whole lot, then lock yourself up and binge watch it all, and tell no one that you are doing it. People love to spoil the crap out of GoT.

I've been reading the GOT books for 15+ years now so I'm a bit biased.

But GOT is one of the best shows ever. I think it will go down as one of the best and most ambitious shows in the history of TV. I like it a lot more than the books, even, which I have soured on a great deal over the past decade.

Advice:

Many people are extremely overwhelmed at first by the amount of characters, who they are, what their names are, what they are doing, how they are related, etc.

Just stick with it. Watch. You'll figure it out. If you make it through Season 1 and you don't like it, maybe its not for you, although I strongly advise to make it through at least Season 3. Ask questions on here without spoilers. Do NOT go online hunting for info because you might get spoiled, although there are some resources where you can type in the episode you are on and it will only have spoilers up that point.

Tensions mount and truths are revealed as LSUWhoDat is forced to make a major decision. The M/TV Board forges an unlikely partnership.

IMO the only people who truly understand GOT read the books. There are too many characters that you go without seeing for seasons at a time to really keep track of.

To get a sense of what all is going on during first season, you might want to read up on Robert's Rebellion. Like some others have said, for non-book readers, the show can be a little confusing early on because they don't really give any backstory on what all has led up to the place where you start watching, or the characters that the continue to introduce.

Here is a link to a breakdown of Robert's Rebellion: LINK

Now do not under any circumstance click on any of the links on that page, and don't read anything else except that page on Robert's Rebellion. If you don't want to read everything on that page, make sure you read the Background section, the section on the Battle of the Trident, the Sack of King's Landing, the Assault on Dragonstone, and the Outcome section.

Again, nothing on that page should soil anything since it is all background information, but do not under any circumstances click on anything else, or look up anything else until you've finished your binge watch.
