So I'm currently watching season 4 of X Files. ...

Kind of surprised at how serious the show got all of the sudden. It had some incredibly funny episodes in season 3. Some episodes were serious before, but most of them didn't take themselves too seriously. It seems like every episode is a sob story now. I haven't watched this show in ages, so can't remember. Does it stay this serious all the way through?

No. It gets back to having a couple 3 "whimsical" eps per season.

I wish there were more of those. They really could've had some fun with the premise of this show. I'm watching the "tail" episode now.

I just remember the episode where the 3 inbred brothers beat some cop to death... not much of a comedy thing
but I don't know if il be able to take David Duchovny seriously after watching Californication
