The EU no longer exists. They aren't canon anymore.

I am one such fan having read over 50 Star Wars books. But I knew all along that there was no guarantee these books would be honored in any future movies. Lucas made that clear from the beginning, so I'm not overly upset.

Republic commando are some of the best Star Wars books

The Zahn trilogy was pretty cool. Anything written by Kevin J. Anderson should be taken off the shelves and burned in giant bonfire upon which a recently tortured but living Anderson would be laying.

Thrawn trilogy is defintely worth the read.
AFter that, the New Jedi Order books with the Yuuzhan Vong were very good. But, it is a long, long story arch.

The clone wars tv series is canon and includes some characters that the EU expands on.

I always liked The Truce at Bakura. It's events happen pretty much right after ROTJ
