Not really. She was hired as writer after not landing a spot on the show when they were looking specifically for an African American woman. Then she somehow made it onto the show the next season.

Well I'd argue she started out as a writer. But that it waswas absolutely nothing "like Tina."
If I were to say that,"Like Michael Jordan, I played high school basketball," that would be true but also pretty irrelevant.
