Cold Open: Trump Press Conference

Love the Russian flag pin on Trump's lapel.

Man, that cold opening was weak, especially considering that even CNN retracted the retarded, 4chan prank pissgate story. "everyone knows Russia hacked the election..." what hacks.

The monologue was ok. I liked Tina Fey's jokes about Felicity Jones and Keenan Thompson.

Didn't realize people still watched this, they must if it's still on the air. The Gumby DAMMIT days are gone and will never be the same.

So far I'd have to say it's the worst episode in the history of the show.

It's gone WAY downhill, even compared to 5-6 years ago. I don't think it's the fault of the cast, as some of them have potential (mostly the women are good), it's just the writing is terrible.

It would be very hard for a show, especially a sketch comedy show with multiple sketches per episode, to come up with original ideas after 40+ years on air. There's always gonna be current events to lampoon, but they can only seem to work those into the cold opens, weekend update, and occasionally the monologue. They just need to put the show out of it's misery before it becomes any worse.

Sturgill and Hank, jr. don't belong in the same sentence.

They just killed it. But no wonder the M/B worships Sturgill Simpson: Jam Band.

I haven't watched SNL in years but my 13 year old really likes it. Are there any other sketch shows still on TV? I do wonder if the novelty of being live matters to the show anymore, if it were all pre-recorded bits would it matter?

I think their reliance on pre-recorded bits took some of the oomph out of the show a couple years ago. The Desert Island videos got tons of play on the internet, but it probably took some pressure off of the writers for live sketches. Everyone was talking about SNL, but not the actual live show.
