I had assumed they were going to bring in the much rumored third Holmes brother after Mycroft was talking to one of his colleagues after Sherlock shot Magnusson.

The bald guy colleague - not Lady Smallwood - was accusing Mycroft about being easy on Sherlock because they were brothers and Mycroft said something about not having sentiment about family and "you remember what happened to the other one".

And the sister - Euros or Eurus (I've seen it spelled both ways online) - means East Wind.

As Sherlock is about to get on the plane to be exiled in "His Last Vow" he says to Watson -

quote:

"The East Wind takes us all in the end. It's a story my brother told me when we were kids. The East Wind — this terrifying force that lays waste to all in its path. Seeks out the unworthy and plucks them from the Earth."

And as the plane returns in "The Abominable Bride", Watson says to Mary -

quote:

"Well, if [Moriarty] is [back], he’d better wrap up warm. There’s an East Wind coming."

So, they've been prepping us for her for a while. Sounds like she's going to be a bad bitch!

So are we to assume she's Moriarity's right hand man or that Moriarity was working for her?

I'm thinking she just used Moriarty's image to draw Sherlock back into the game.

Certainly makes you wonder if Sherrinford will be introduced, if it is simply a code name for Euros, or a code name for another agent and just a play on the reference.

Also, according to this Telegraph article about the brothers and sisters of Sherlock, "Sherrinford" was used as one of the teaser words for this series.

Nice catch on the other East Wind lines though.
