Several films that I thought got snubbed by the Oscars

1. Rush
This film is in my Top 10 for the year. It's without a doubt the best racing movie I've ever seen and should have gotten some love for its sound design as well as for Daniel Bruhl's magnificent turn as racing legend Niki Lauda.
2. Blue is the Warmest Color
The Academy can't have a NC-17 film up for Best Foreign Language Film for some reason. Either way...this film was a great one - even without the 6 1/2 minute lesbian sex scene.
3. Mud
Brilliant coming-of-age story that got left out in the cold because of its release date. God forbid a good movie gets released before October these days.
4. Prisoners
Same thing goes for Prisoners. This film has everything Oscar voters could want. But because it premiered before the magical date of October 1, it's automatically forgotten by Oscar voters come December.

I would rank them 2, 3, 1, 4.
Was not a fan of Prisoners, but Blue is the Warmest Color is probably better than at least half the Best Picture nominees and there isn't an actress nominated who can say she gave a better performance than the main girl in that movie.
McConaughey in Mud was better than McConaughey in Buyer's Club, but timing is everything and I think someone on here said they heard it didnt qualify for 2013 cause it premiered at some film festivals in 2012.
Rush was great, and I'm not sure why it didnt at least get a best supporting actor nomination. That dude was terrific, whatever his name is. I forget now.

And since we're on the subject, I think The Way, Way Back should have been recognized for screenplay and Sam Rockwell should have gotten Best Supporting actor. I think some people on here agree with me on that too.

TDKR needs to be nominated every year. The best movie ever made.

Although, imo, it gets a little too much love on the board, it is a very solid, well made film with good performances.

4. Prisoners
I liked it and the little twists and turns. Required substantial suspension of disbelief, however. Not sure it was Oscar worthy.

I thought Wolverine was great in Prisoners. Wouldn't have a problem with him getting a nomination

I wholeheartedly agree that Mud was snubbed. Not just one of my favorite movies from 2013, but in recent memory as well.
MM and the kids did a fantastic job in this movie.

Mud and Prisoners defintely 2 of the better films of the year

The Way Way Back is my 2nd favorite movie this year just behind Mud and Rockwell killed it as usual.

It doesn't seem to be getting any love here, but Inside Llewyn Davis was unfortunately passed over.

Olga Kurylenko's performance in To the Wonder was snubbed big time. She carried that movie well.

Man of Steel for soundtrack

Not in my opinion. I enjoyed Prisoners and Captain Phillips, but I don't think either is Oscar worthy. Just my opinion.

Mud
Re-watched it last night On-Demand
MM's performance was great, although I did think he was better in DBC
The kid was the one who really got snubbed. Wow he was awesome.
The movie is very worthy for best picture

I liked Rush a lot more than I expected.
Of course I am terribly envious of F1 guys, have to have the best sporting life of any athletes (if you consider them that).

Just watched Rush. How did this get snubbed? Great story with damn good character development. Should have gotten a nod for screenplay, direction, sound, possibly best supporting actor.

Mud was/is a 2012 film. That's why it wasn't nominated for this year.
